NOAA's Chesapeake Bay Office has launched the third buoy in the Chesapeake Bay Interpretive Buoy System. The buoy, located at the mouth of the Patapsco River near Baltimore, transmits meteorological and water-quality data in near real time via wireless technology. Data from the buoys is available on the web or by calling 877-BUOYBAY. Save the number in your cell and call when you are on the water to get real time updates.

You can find the main Chesapeake Buoy site here . The site has two other buoys that provide real time weather, one at the mouth of the Potomac and one at the mouth of the James River.
