Annual TidalFish.com Striped Bass Tournament - WINNERS ANNOUNCED
By Brandon White Published: November 5, 2007 Updated: December 16, 2007 Print Email Unfortunately, the forecast of the arrival of 40knot+ winds and the worst winter storm of the year over the weekend kept registration down for this years tournament despite the four day format. However, a few brave fishing teams made it out to calm seas and a healthy striped bass bite on Thursday and Friday to have some fun and catch some big fish. Team Paramour Captained by Bill Lewis (picture to the left) took home First Prize this past weekend at the Tidal Fish 7th Annual Striped Bass Tournament with a total of four fish weighed in for a weight of 155.7lbs. The Tournament had a guaranteed total payout of $500 giving Team Paramour $375 in cash winnings. The Calcutta for the largest Striped Bass went to Team Ocean Cove Seafood Captained by Joe Peirson. Their 48.3lb Striped Bass caught on Day 2 of the tournament edged out Team Paramour's first day Striped Bass that weighted in at 48.1lbs. Team Ocean Cove Seafood also took Second Place with a four striped bass total of 143.5lbs. adding another $75 to their winnings. Team Rock and Roll Captained by Ron Wildoner took Third Place with a total of 67.1lbs which was worth $50. I want to extend a special thank you to Chris' Bait and Tackle for providing all the amenities and weigh-in station. If you have not stopped in to Chris' Bait and Tackle when fishing out of Kiptopeke you should, they have an expanded tackle selection and all eels and other bait you need. They also always have a beat on that is being caught where. I would also like to thank Kiptopeke Inn for providing a special rate for anglers. If you are looking for a place to stay when fishing in Kiptopeke, the Kiptopeke Inn is your place. They have plenty of boat parking, nice rooms, a free breakfast and friendly service. Ask for the Tidal Fish special rate when calling for reservations. Thanks to all the anglers that fished the tournament, it was great to meet everyone and see some BIG fish being caught. Happy Holidays! Brandon View Comments (0) |
