The record-setting grouper bested the existing state record, set by Chris Boyce of Hampton, Virginia on December 9, 2007, by two full pounds. Humphrey is filing an application with the International Game Fish Association (IGFA) for acceptance of his catch as the IGFA All-Tackle Record for snowy grouper. Killing flounder over 17" is tantamount to killing hundreds of thousands, maybe millions of unborn fish. Study's repeatedly have shown that virtually all flounder over 17" are female fish. There needs to be a slot limit, something maybe 14-16.5 with a 3 fish limit, to protect breeding stock females. 2 fish at 20" a day is still killing female fish. Frankly I don't think either of these so called expert organizations know what they are doing. I think it's more of a political dog and pony show than science.
