The Maryland Department of Natural Resources Fisheries Service will hold a public informational meeting on the management of summer flounder. Current knowledge of the stock and recreational fishery management options for 2008 will be discussed. Further management restrictions are necessary to reduce recreational summer flounder landings to the coastal quota established by the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission and Mid-Atlantic Fishery Management Council in order to rebuild the stock to the biomass targets.  Management options include adjustments to minimum size limits, creel limits, and fishing season.

The first public information meeting will be held at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at the Ocean Pines Library, 11107 Cathell Rd, Ocean Pines, MD, 21811.  A second meeting will be held at 6:00 pm on Thursday, January 24, 2008 at the Tawes State Office Building, A-1, 580 Taylor Avenue, Annapolis, MD, 21401.

All interested parties are invited to attend and participate.  If you have questions about the meeting, contact Mike Luisi, Fisheries Service, Tawes State Office Building, B-2, 580 Taylor Avenue, Annapolis, MD 21401, telephone 410-260-8341 or email mluisi@dnr.state.md.us.
