YELLOWEDGE GROUPER, 46-pounds,2-ounces

New IGFA All-Tackle World Record

Caught 12 March 2008 aboard the Rudee Angler skippered by Captain Skip Feller, sailing from the Virginia Beach Fishing Center.

Capt Skipper had taken a group of anglers to the edge of the Norfolk Canyon where his crew had a good catch of grouper, including a huge yellowedge grouper. Back at the dock, I was honored to help process the yellowedge as a pending world record, which weighed enough to trump the existing world record.

The fish was just approved as a new IGFA All Tackle World record!

The angler is Heath Cataulin of Norfolk, Virginia. He was using a hand-tied two hook rig with Mustad circle hooks donned with squid on a Penn Baja reel and Ugly Stick rod combo. The fight took approximately 15 minutes to bring the grouper onboard.

Congratulations to the angler, Captain and Crew of the Rudee Angler out of the Virginia Beach Fishing Center, Virginia Beach, Virginia.
