Description: I am selling my 11-foot, heavy action, conventional Kunan graphite surf rod (Model SC110C). I purchased it new in 1990, used it about six times that year, cleaned it, packed it away for the winter and never uncovered it again until this month. It is in excellent condition except for the tiptop guide, which lost its plastic insert and would need to be replaced. Kunan was once one of the top manufacturers of high-quality graphite saltwater rods. (After 20-years of heavy use, my Kunan trolling rods still serve me well.) Kunan�s Japanese manufacturing plant mysteriously burned down in the early 1990s. Rumors have persisted that it was a result of arson from better-known competitors, which only adds to the Kunan mystique. If you can find a surviving Kunan rod in great condition, they typically demand top dollar. For example, the same rod that I am selling is currently being offered at over $150 on another site. Given the need to replace the top guide, I am asking $75 for mine. It deserves to be back on the beach with a customized Penn or Abu-Garcia conventional reel, heaving 8-oz sinkers with ease beyond the surf line and going toe-to-toe with bull redfish.
