Reds on the grass flats 10/22

Last stretch of good tailing tides of the year this weekend. Took out a rookie saltwater fly angler and he we able to put it together and catch two nice reds out of the grass. After getting shots at about 20 fish I woudl say he finally had enough practice. There were tails everywhere. We would come up on a fish. He would spook or catch it. I would look up and there would be another one. And that was the way it was continuously for 4 hours. Pretty good morning.

Capt G,
How long does your red season last down there? What distance is typical for your cast to be effective? It sounds like you are running a guide service down there - if so could you tell me more about that? B-mail is fine if you like.

Yeah we've actually been catching them since April. It's been a nice year. As far as distance goes... it seems that if I only have 40 or so feet of line out then the fish are out 60. As soon as I strip out enough line to reach the fish that is 60 feet away I end up catching the same fish right at my feet. So who knows? [smile] I am stricly a shallow water sight fishing with fly rods and light spinning rod guy. If that is what you are into and only what you want to do then I am your guy. If you want to go in the ocean or blind cast with a flyrod or whatever then I am not your guy. Pretty simple really. It's just what I like to do and the kind of guys that like to do that are the kind of guys I like to fish with. If that sounds like you then give me a call. If you want to do somthing else then I know the guys to do that with too so call me either way. l8r. G
