Myrtle Beach...with a fly rod?

Hi guys~i'm new to this forum and hope i'm finding someone in a generous mood! (..being Friday and all) I'm visiting Myrtle Beach the first week of April and hoping to get some fishing in. I'd like to fly fish, but spinning gear and bait are an option too. I have very limited experience with saltwater fishing, and will have no access to a boat. My question then~is there anywhere I can fish from shore, or wade shallow water and have a good chance at hooking something in the salt? Size/species don't really matter as much as just putting a bend in the rod! (though i've never caught a trout down there and would REALLY like to do that) I am willing to drive up to an hour or so~I get the impression that Myrtle itself has no decent options. Speaking of options~can anyone suggest a place for good BBQ? Last time I was down there was a few years ago and I got more than my fill of calabash!

Flyguy, Welcome to the board. The SC board is not the most active board on this site, but I can offer some advise even though I live in PA. I fish down there for a week once a year. I don't know of any areas that you can fish without a boat. Most of the fishing this time of year is in the marshes and these aren't areas that you can walk to. I fish out of Georgetown which is an hour south of Myrtle. I will take my boat but stil fish one or two days with http://www.deltaguideservice.com .Gene Dickson is a great guide and he will put you into areas that you can flyfish. You may also want to try this question at http://www.charlestonfishing.com .
