We could use em for fertilizer like they did SB back in the day! Just read that in Striper Wars. Good read so far, kills this crappy weather.

Another example of the need to manage based on the ecosystem

----No I just feel its a untapped possible market, that could if found provide a new Fishery on a Species that is running Rampert --I know that some in Asian Seafood markets will use them in a limited way ---Maybe if there were a Proper Recipe---

I'm sure they could be sold in the Asian markets. My wife is Korean and I finally kept one for her last summer and she and friends rave over it. It actually wasn't bad; she soaked the wing meat in salt water overnight and steamed it. It had the consistency of pork and she made some kind of sauce that you dipped the meat in as you ate it.

Their populations are out of control because there aren't any sharks left... from shipping shark fins to asian markets. So, rather than wipe another species out, why not manage the ecosystem?

We talked about this before-all the sharks that used to eat the rays are gone.:( Now the rays are everywhere. They need a catchy name like -Chesapeake angel fish :D .They really do a number on the clams/oyster bars. When I dive it looks like little potholes all over the bottom from rays. Skip

I'm with OneMoreCast on this one. What will the sharks eat when the rays are gone? Me, the rockfish, ...

If you start a rumor that Rays have aphrodisiac or other medicinal qualities, the Asian markets will have the population "under control" in short order.

Well George funny you should ask that question.
At a PRFC meeting just last week that very topic was discussed. Mostly it centered on how they were to be caught and if they could have a by catch of other fish caught while draging a net for them. Thought that they needed 5 dollars a pound on the dock to make a go of it. So far can't find much of any market for them.
