as i've told many who e mailed me ( reason for start of this board) I need more info to be able to help.
are you bringing a boat if so what size, what experience do you have on it on the water ( where have you used it?)
Chartering a capt? or renting a boat local?
what type fishing do you want to do? inshore/ flats/ offshore/ reef?
A good place to start is the Home Sticky post on this board where I have some links posted on fishing reports....be sure to get your out of state license you can do it on line before you get here look at Welcome to Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (http://www.myfwc.com) for that
a place to give you an idea of what you may find is Florida Keys Fishing Chart - The Best Fishing By Month (http://fishfloridakeys.com/chart.html)
it's not to say you can't catch the species that show vacant but they will be limited or non existent I went Tarpon and Permit fishing off a bridge yesterday and nailed several very large Mangrove Snappers which are supposed to be offshore spawning right now so its a wide open throw of the dice
A local party boat is a good inexpensive way to "get your feet wet" so to speak its around $40 for a half day it will give you an overview of the reef and some of the local outside waters...weather and storms will have a large impact on the fishing and fishable waters ( it will be hurricane season)
hope you enjoy your visit to Paradise
