Advocates see chance to protect estuary with wide-ranging farm bill

WASHINGTON // The Bush administration wants to spend more than $56 billion to conserve farmland over the next decade, prompting an unprecedented push by Chesapeake Bay advocates to carve out a slice of the money for the imperiled estuary.
Lawmakers and environmentalists say that negotiations on this year's wide-ranging farm bill - better known for the subsidies historically provided to corn and sugar growers, among others - offer the best chance yet to protect the threatened waterway from contaminants flushed in from fertilizer and manure.

Must be time to start on the Farmers.
And the Reds plan to clean up that water that you keep carping about would be what exactly? Pray for divine intervention? Do the Reds Clean Water Dance during the full moon? Stop crapping until the Bay is clean?

Well I would love to see some of that heading our way. They want to build a 2500 home deveoplment right on little assawoman bay.The land now is farm land. I would love to see it stay that way. I'm in a group that is now fighting to keep the deveopler to bissy on permittes and studies to build. Now chum you know how much I think of you bud. But why ain't CCA helping out over here? They don't have to have a chapter in a state to do what is right. If their intention is to help the waters and fisheries get better. don't forget the coastal waters are some of the most important when it come to healthy fisheries.

Walt, I've never been to the fly board, people might think I know how to fly fish, which as you know, I don't...I know how to scare the hell out of people, I know how to make Al hide behind a center console, but I do not know how to fly fish...
Now about the Delaware thing...Huh...You know, that does make some sense now doesn't it...I don't know why there isn't a CCA in Delaware, sure makes sense to me...

Hey Walt I've made a few trips over to the first state to talk to groups about forming a CCA state chapter. As a matter of fact I'm heading over again around the end of May to talk to a bunch of folks about CCA.
You wanting to step up to plate? I'm looking for a few good people.
