Hey Folks,
I live up in PA now and have been gone from MD for more than 10 years. I plan to come down crabbing this summer probably with a trotline. I'd prefer to not have to pay $20 to launch but it looks to be typical. I'd appreciate any advice on where I could launch for a lower price and still be in good crab waters.
Does Wye Landing charge to launch? If so, how much? My boat is registered in PA as is my truck. Do I need to get some kind of county launch permit? And I see that MD now has a rec crabber's license as well as some kind of boat license. Any advice for which way to go is appreciated (obviously I'm now a non-resident of MD). It sure has changed a lot and gotten confusing in 10 years.
Thanks for any guidance offered.

Talbot County charges $10 for an annual fee which would put you on the Wye.
Queen Annes County is $25 and will put you in at Kent Narrows, Cox Creek, Crab Alley and a few others.

Prices (most) quoted above are for in state. Best deal going is Talbot Co. (Wye) for out of state. I think last year was $10.
Good luck.

Fellow PA'er, the 10$ non res crabbing license will get you your bushel, anyone else on board that has the license will get you 2 bushel. QA county sells daily permits for $10 I think the 25 written above is wrong I believe it's $50 for non resident. No need for anything for your boat or truck, just the ramp permits and your 10$ non res license. Where abouts in PA?

Iv never been charged for launching at Truxton in Annapolis if you want to crab on or near the Severn. Two nice ramps, a nice bathroom facility and plenty of parking.

Pinchy,
I live near Boiling Springs. Takes about 2.5 hours to drive down to Bay Bridge. A lot further then when I used to live in Cape St. Claire.

I thought you were supposed to have the State Park Pass to launch out of Truxton for free? It seemed to be a long no wake trip to me. It is good but you have to leave really early.
