Capt. Nick- Thanks for sharing the Penrod post. He has been an environmental watch dog for as long as I can remember. The number of replies to your post are reflective about how many TF guys really give a dam!

Great article. How do we get Perdue and Tyson to clean up their act? Buy chicken products from the midwest? Seems simple.

Even though I sympathize with much of the article, as an article it was a piece of crap. Most of the article had nothing to do with the title and the request for "help" at the end is so nebulous that I have no idea what he wants. Does he want a boycott of local chicken producers or some midnight raiders to attack chicken houses? If an employee of mine had written an article like that, I would have told him to start over again and think before he put fingers to the keyboard.
However I do agree that agricultural interests, and not just Purdue and Tyson, seem to get a pass in clean up efforts.

I will never knock a guy for attempting to improve the water quality in anybody of water on this earth. I will help the guy in any way I can. I say lead, follow or get the hell out of the way!

Norm,
I think that Chicken Littles who run around and saying "The sky is falling, the sky is falling" can often do more to harm a cause than to help a cause. I am not knocking his desire to improve water quality, I am simply pointing out that his approach has flaws, potentially fatal. I know that there are many among us who think they have the best interests of the water at heart, but go about things the wrong way.
The last time someone said lead, follow, or get the hell out of the way, we invaded Iraq so don't play games with me. Someone needs to see where our "leaders" are trying to take us before we sign up and blindly follow. There are leaders that should be followed, but maybe, just maybe, there are some that could and should be ignored. Emotion is fine, but in most cases logic, strategy, and planning can get results.
