How many crab rings can a person use in Va. and do you need a crab license if you have a saltwater fish license?

I do believe that you can have two (2) crab pots for your own personal use. Anymore than that, you have to have a Crab Lic.

30 rings/traps in MD and the MD bay license is good for crabbing - don't know VA's rules.

When I asked the VA NRP that question (6 years ago), the reply I received was that traps, net rings, and pots are all considered the same.

Well the state guy got back in touch with me and said that rings are considered the same as handlines and said to pay attention to size and limit.I dont think Va. has this issue defined well enough.Oh well,I did make it out over the holiday and had a slow day.Managed to keep 8 crabs and caught fish between pulls.Tons of little crabs also.

I love Va. It is for Lovers and , well, you know the rest about Yodelling up da Valleyyyy!!!!
Va crabs are small and not worth the time for me. The whole state is a crab incubator though and they have plenty of small crabs that slough to softies. Am I wrong? Maybe. When in Saxus though, this is what I experienced. Stayed at Tall Pines Camp Ground.
Fishing can be good though.
Merilland is the place for crabs IMHO.
