Anyone got any ideas or pics of a rod holder (the flush mount kind) mounted prop stick. I have a Mako CC and would like to build one that can mount in the rod holder and be removed without any extra drilling into the boat.

Thanks in advance!!!!

Make a propstick out of 1 1/4 PVC or 1 1/2-whatever size your rod holder is. Then, notch out the PVC where the bar in the bottom of our rod holder is. Then, tie a small rope to your bow rail or console because if something gets hung up on the line, it will break your propstick right in half.

rrr, said it best. I have a gunnel mount holder and drilled a hole through both and through bolt it. Works just fine. The only advice I can offer is that even with it being through bolted the PVC is starting to get stressed a little at the bolt, I imagine the same will happen at the gimbal bar inside your rod holder.........may wanna thinnk about steel pipe base coupled to PVC

Yeah, the PVC one I made back in 2002 is still going. Last year though, after miles of line, I finally wore a small hole in it. Throw it away? Oh no.:nono:

I sawed off 2 sticks last year ....I've heard if you wrap the pvc with an inner tube it will last.....otherwise it won't last....the line will cut it up....depending on how much you crab and how much line you run of course.

Here's Mine in another thread:

The end that goes into the rod holder is reinforced with a piece of 1" galv pipe. If you do not reinforce it it will break....been there.

You can also "sleeve" the PVC w/a dowel or smaller piece of PVC for more strength.
