Guys,
Yesterday wasn't easy...
Planned to crab the river south of Broome's island. The stiff north wind made a river set impossible, and all the spots that had a lee already had someone crabbing there.
We made our way to a creek on the calvert side and found that it just didn't work for our 1200ft line. The creek was too deep for our line... and there were too many people there.
There was one guy that easily had 4 or 5 short lines.
So... we went back to our home creek on the St Mary's side and found an OK spot. Crabbed there until 10am with only a couple dozen to show for it. As people were leaving we found a better spot and decided to set only half of a line at a new shallow spot.
Ended the day with a half basket of good hard crabs and found that shallow was better. I also learned that short lines are better for creeks....but I definetly prefer to set on the river when possible.
