Hello all,
Looking for some tips on cobia and red drum fishing off of chincoteague. Some hot spots and other info. I've done some trips at the cbbt for drum, and i caught one cobia last year at the trolley cars. I was hooked. I have some of the basics down, just needs some local info. Thanks, John

Your already doing better than most. live bait sight casting around the offshore bouys is the best advice I can give for mr brown suit.
Try the whistle bouy at Winter Quarter Shoal. occasional cobia but frequent amberjacks. I would be suprised if any are around before mid to late July though.

What is the typical set up for an amberjack?

Live spot, 2 or 3 oz egg sinker in the line above 4 feet of 100 leader. Same rods you chunk tunas with.

Try a large LARGE popping plug for the jacks, the bite is phenominal, Cast near they buoy or over the wreck and pop it all the way back to the boat

Ill have to try that. Are the wrecks at the winter quarter shoal the best spot for them, or are there some better spots?
