Heading down to Rodanthe on the OBX with the in-laws on Saturday. Had to purchase a fishing license this year b/c the reg have changed for shore-fishing, but it took 10 minutes on-line, printed out my license, and it cost $10 for a 10-day license.

Hope to spend most of my mornings on the beach with a big hunk of bait in the surf. Have booked a deepsea wreck fishing charter out of OI on the Poacher for Monday, so hope to get into some (kick his ass) sea bass, jacks, porgys, cobia, and some other stuff I haven't heard of.

Also, am hooking up w/ fellow TFer Bimini 24cc some day during the week to head offshore to work the gulf stream on his sweet battle wagon. Hope to bail some dolphin and possibly find a few stray tunnies, maybe a billfish too, as I've seen some reports.

Will report back on results, possibly sometime during the week....

I have fished many times with an amazing light-tackle inshore guide who fishes out of Teach's Lair marina in Hatteras. His name is Doug Martin. We have caught lots of fish on every trip, including some days when nobody else was fishing. If you need a half-day diversion look him up.

If I keep adding fishing trips, I'll never see the beach! Plus my wife may begin to tire of it. :nono: I mean, I got clearance for a full-day wreck fishing WITH her and some of her family, and I got clearance to go another day offshore with a Bimini 24cc. Its possible she'd get upset....especially since neither of those trips will be free....

But thanks!

As the captain of the defending Rumble on the River champion boat I have to agree with Evans. Anyone can put out a spread and drag lures. Hell Pickeral fishin is pretty damn easy also. When it comes to the real stuff there's nothing like LTJ'ing at the end of October and early November. The only reason we moved the date up is because the rest of you couldnt catch a fish to save your life in November. I recall limiting out two years in a row.

Blah blah blah!!!!!! Your first downfall was agreeing with Evans.

"Anyone can put a spread out..."

Anyone except Fisham.....:eek2:

And yes, pickeral fishing is about as easy as rockfishing. Interesting how such an expert can place no better than 3rd in such an easy tourny.......:clapping2: But hey, congrats on the 23"er......

From my recollection, didn't Weeda actually win that tourny? You have been lucky enough to be on the boat that caught the winning fish "2 years running". Period.

Actually I caught the biggest fish that day and we all limited out. We were even throwing back anything under 20 inches. As for the previous year there were five fish brought to the weigh-in. Two were mine, two the guy I was fishing with caught and the monster 36er came from Jared on Clancy's boat. As I recall werent Billy and I the only SRRKC members to bring anything to the challenge weigh-in. hmm.
