View Full Version : Fall YFT - VA Beach

This is my first season fishing offshore on my own. From what I'm reading it seems there is still a concentration of YFT well North of VB. Couple of questions...When do they usually begin their migration back South or do they? If they make a showing off of VA Beach is it usually deep in the Canyon or more inshore, like the fingers? I guess it would really depend on water conditions. What is their preferred water temp?
Any advice is greatly appreciated!!
Thanks,
Ed

Oh they're coming....The Canyon is normally good and all the way along the 100Fathom line....won't be long now and based on the size of the spring/summer YFT, these guys are gonna be beasts !.....Bob

Here's the code for the swimming fish...

} else if (document.all) {
isIE = true;
}
function initTrail() {

Looking forward to it. We've had a couple sucessful trips so far this summer, including hooking a couple white marlin & a good dolphin trip, but I'm ready for some serious drag burning pullage:D :D .
We'll just keep at it & wait for the reports to start rolling in.
Thanks!

Nov. & Dec. Last Year Around The 100 Fathom Line Find The Temp. Break Off A Sat. Shot Go To It. We Caught 18 Tuna's In About Hour Or Two Almost Every Trip. Run Alot Of Lines & Keep Sending Them Back When Hooked Up For The Floater Bites. Nice To Come Home Early. Hopefully, The Conditions Will Be Right Again. Calvin

The bite was strong in September as well. From the 200 down to the 900 line. I know for a fact that this time last year boats limited out quickly around the 950 in 50 fathoms. We got a citation hoo after coming up from OI and you guessed it, the bite slowed. Read reports, check fishing center web sites, it won't be long.
