hey, names Ryan. I'm new to this site, and this is my delima. I'm in the florida national gaurd, I'm being sent to DC for a year. Don't know much about the area, but I know I can't go a year without spearfishing, being from florida, i've got a lot of experience under my belt, the thing is though, I can't bring my boat with me, and it seems as though charter spearfishing doesn't exist, anybody got some advice??

The waters near DC offer only 6 inches-yeah,half a foot viz. -on a good day.
Your best bet would be the NC area-Moorehead city has some dive boats that allow spear guns.
Off the Md/Va coast-it's tough to find a charter. You might want to check the yellow pages and find the closest dive shop. They might have some ideas.
Sometimes divers post here-looking for a few divers to split the gas bill.
Our season winds down in Nov.-that's when we all head to Fla. :D . Skip

There is a freediving group in VA beach, and charters (Scuba) that dive out of Delaware, Ocean City, MD , And VA Beach.
Just be prepared for vis in the 5-10 ft range, and waters up here are a bit more... umm.. turbulent. What we consider a good day, might be questionable for some people in FL. Mako gets some of us DC guys together to make a run out to one of the places from time to time.
