Surfside Beach

Hey, just got back from vacation in surfside beach. It was great and we did alot of surf fishing. Only caught Blues but it was fun. Largest blue was about 20" and the bait they seemed to prefer was the finger shads/mullets that was running in large schools up and down the beach. Used a 3 oz. sinker with a double bottom hook setup. We fished about 6 blocks from the fishing pier in the area. We plan on going back and was wondering what other methods or types of fish we could catch in the area? different bait? We did use cut mullet, shrimp too but not quite as effective. I would love to go back next year and catch a shark! Anywhere in the area to catch them? Apparently in the county I was in it was illegal to catch them. Not interested in keeping any of the fish, I would just like to catch some diffent stuff. I live on the chesapeake bay so catching blues was fun but really nothing new. Any advice for next year at this time would be great :)
