Has anyone tried the spot at the mouth of the Rappahannock River? I was thinking of heading down Sunday if the big ones are biting. Any information would be appreciated and I will of course post on my luck if I go.

Much to my shegrin, I haven't been able to get out myself, but just got off the phone with a buddy bragging about how full their coolers were after Sunday. He said two dozen blood worms did the job on about 75 spot, some of which were the biggest he'd seen in a while. Alot caught at the spike, then tide and bite went slack, moved across river to butlers hole area and sarted loading up again. He said lots and lots of boats. He also knows a netter on the Potomac that said he has loaded up on the biggest spot he's ever seen. Man, I gotta get out there. Got a few more honey-do's to do, doin the NHRA natioanals this weekend, I'll be out 13th-14th for sure.

Fished the mouth of the Rapp Sat/Sun and Tues a week ago. All the usual spots likethe Spike, Butlers hole and up the River by thje Mooring Bouys. Cleaned about a 100 spot,a dozen blues and 1/2 dozen trout. Flood tide seemed the best but pretty steady bite. Tues I couldnt find any bloodworms an d used fish bites and then when Icaught some small spot used cut bait. Did OK but not as good as the real bloodworms. Talked to the fellow at J & W s and asked him if he had weighed any citation spot yet and he said no but felt like the fish were definately getting bigger. Any way might try it again this wkend. Good Luck Big Dave

Fished the spike on Sunday and loaded up on nice sized spots. We caught them as fast as we could. Bloodworms were the best bait and the tide didn't play a factor. Go get em before the Menhaden fleet sucks them up!

Could someone tell me where the Spike is? Is it opposite Butlers Hole to the NorthWest of Broad Creek? I am going to try and go out of Deltaville Saturday with my kids and fish for some spot. I would really appreciate a little help. Good fishing.

Clear the #1 out of Broad Creek, turn right, and when you come to about 75 boats off Stingray you'll know you've arrived.

Fished Thursday p.m., friday p.m. Saturday and Sunday morning. Bite was steady, but the nice ones were in spurts. Bloodworms and finding the right depth made all the difference. Wish the trout would get bigger, caught probably 100 each afternoon.
