Well, believe it or not, I went to the gas dock tonite to top off for the tourny this weekend. On my way home I made a few casts in Carr Creek and then at David Taylor. With the winds howling like they were it made for some combat fishing, but along with a nice rock a tad over 21" I caught this little fella, a 17" redfish.

I've lived on the river for all of my 32 years and this is one of the craziest things I've ever seen.

AWESOME, Clancy!!! What a great catch... man, you'd of won some money if the month-long tourny had an "open" category!!!
Great job

Awesome catch!!! Maybe there are few more around. That would cool to find an 18"+ redfish for the most unusual catch category this Saturday.

WTG Clancy that is a nice red and you don’t see them that often up here but about 3 years ago we had them in the Patapsco. I wish you and Evens and the rest of the SRRKC the best of luck tomorrow and I’m sorry I can’t make it but I do appreciate the invitation…

Nice catch Clancy! My buddy and I were fishing Thomas Pt. about 7 years ago and he caught one there...couldn't miss it with the distinctive spot. Good stuff!

I may be optimistic, but I'm starting to think that the Severn has more Reds and Blacks than we think. Last year was not salty, yet I caught one. Several years ago was salty, and I caught several. In between, I hear of folks getting them now and again. I'm not sure we have enough to target with any confidence, but I think we do have a few each year now.

Hey does this mean the next time there's a post titled "Severn Snook", it might actually be a snook? Big E can't be throwin' around fish names just to perk interest.
