We worked on some good rates in some nice Oceanfront hotels for the winter for my charter boat and they have extended the rate for everyone. The rates change throughout the year, but they are still very good during the summer. So if you are coming in to fish in the summer, check these rates out.
The rates are as follows for Rockfish season:
Schooner Oceanfront and 2nd street $34.00 Efficiencies 1-800-370-9416
Best Western (Colonial Inn) 28th street $34.00 1-800-344-3342
If You want a little more upscale the Clarion at 5th street has a good rate
and there is also the Days Inn (not on the ocean) that has been doing a good rate for a while for $29.00 and $34.00 on weekends.
You must ask for either the Rockfish rate or fishing rate when you call most of these hotels.
Watermans will as always cook your fish all winter family style.
We fish 3 trips this week and caught good every time with stripers up to 42 inches.
A few at cape henry and lots just inside the bay. The bay fish were mostly 28 inches and below and a lot of slot fish with a few big ones mixed in.
The Waterman will be fishing most every day starting next weekend and I will post updated reports then.
