Went fishing with Louis Glaser today on his boat with Chuck (Flounderman2001) and Josh (from Taylors Landing). We'd gotten the word that the bite was on over at the Plantation Light-Concrete Ships area so off we went with plenty of eels. Kinda rough going with an east wind but that's the way it stayed most of the day. It took quite a while at first to get the first fish in cause of no current until after 10am or so. People were mostly trolling and catching one here or there. We persevered with the eels doing freelining, bobbers and on the bottom with lead drifting. But finally got Louis got the first on freelining, a 39"one so we switched to freellining mostly. By 11:00 I got a monster on, or so I thought, it was pulling line like crazy on my Torian 20 despite the drag set tightly. Once the run ended I started to get some head way only loosing a little line here and there as I moved him in finally to the net. 46 1/2", on the scale it looked on the line for a weight paper ( I have a release already from January) so in the box it went. Great fight and I only had him hooked in the cheek. If he'd of fought more I might have lost him. Then we didn't get anything till ready to leave near 2:00pm when Josh get a got hit and got to fight with a 42" fish. Unfortunately Chuck couldn't get one hooked today. One broke the line at the knot (drag too tight probably cause I was just putting my rod back in and letting the line out when the fish hit and I didn't get a chance to loosen the drag before I backed off the rod for Chuck to have at him) and another only mouth the eel, then dropped it, then picked it up again and dropped it. All in all a good day fishing, slow catching but the fish were big. :clapping2:
My biggest ever striper. Didn't make weight though, 39.2lbs. Oh well, another time maybe. I'm just happy to get big one and a good fight out of him. We heard and saw a lot of big fish caught all around us. Trolling mostly. Great fishing with you guys. My first with Josh(of many more to come) and always the best time fishing with you Louis and Chuck.
