are you looking for the 3/8" stuff?

That would be my first choice but budget and the limited amount of use per year may take me in another direction.
Thanks

I talked to my local West Marine about the same bungie... If I order 100ft or more, they will give me a discounted rate of $.63/ft.... Obviously $63 per 100 feet.
One of my friends has been doing some internet research and has found some other options. I don't recall what/where and how much off the top of my head, but I'll talk to him and report back.
The west marine bungie is 3/8", white, its slightly negatively bouyant (I tested a sample) and according to new england rope, it has a working load of around 250lbs....
We have been looking for a bungie that floats. According to the west coast guys on spear board there is a 10mm bungie (slightly thicker) that floats. I have not been able to source that yet, but am looking.
If you take a look over on SB you will see my post titled "blue water float system"... There was some inforative info on the bungie over there...
I'll report back if I find anything, are you in a rush for this or do you have some time?

I got some nice 3/8 " bungie with a cam-cleated float. I got it from "Griswold" on SB. He gives a source for the 3/8 floating bungie there as I recall in Chilli's thread.

Chilli, "Slightly negative"? Hey! We are talking float line . LOL
Rob Allen has one (4mm) 147' for $12.00 but don't know much about it. It's not a bungie and that's less than 1/4" without a load.
Let us know. Thanks!

I just found these guys.... The Original Bungee Co - Wholesale Bungee Cords, Tie Downs, Slings and More! (http://www.bungeeco.com/index.php)They've got a couple of bungies that look like they will do the job
3/8" or 9mm 215lb breaking strength $.36/ft
13/32" or 10 mm 290lb breaking strength $.41/ft
The rep I talked to did not know if they where bouyant or not... Matter of fact, I am uncertain if he was familar at all with the principle of bouyancy... Alas, that doesn't make him a bad man. He's sending me samples of each size to test out. I will post the results here when I recieve the samples.
If they float, I will be excited... The price is certainly reasonable.

Spearo,
I just recieved my bungiee samples from the "Original Bungee Cord Co."
The 10mm "Industrial Bungiee" floats. They do have it available in bulk lengths and I believe the price is around $.41/ft.
The 9mm nylon sheathed bungiee from the same company sinks like a stone...
I have samples on the way from 5 more companies. Different types of cord with different sheathing materials and different breaking strains etc. ... I will compile a comparison on them after I have recieved and tested the samples...
We'll see.

Try this...after you get all of your samples and have picked the best, leave it out expose to sunlight/weather to see how long does it takes to start to show cracks when stretched.
Thanks
