Left Horn Harbor at 10:30,intending to head to 36 and look around, then to PL to sink some eels. Found a small flock of birds about 2 miles east of HH, worked them pretty hard with no results, wasn't marking much bait. left after 45 minutes and headed for 36. marked fish and bait 1/2 mile east of 36 anchored up and floated eels for about 2 hours. marked a ton so fish but no hits. there was a big crowd about four miles east of 36 at CC trolling but it didn't sound like much going on. left and headed back to HH and found the same birds working in the same place. managed to pick a couple of schoolies but of no size. lots of fishing today but not much catching.

Still beats working! Where in HH are you? We keep our boat @ HH Marina. Maybe we'll see you around.

We trolled from 36a to 18 with not the first bite. Bait was scattered, no birds. Did see a few fish caught by boats eeling NE of 36a and CC ships.

we are up in the creek past eddies outboard shop and mitchems seafood in what the old timers call the hurricane hole. built a house there in 1990 for my father in law. The deal was if I used my crew to put it up, I get a key. not a bad deal.

Question: when drifting eels do you turn your engine off or is it ok to let her idle and use it to keep the lines straight? Thanks for the info, still new to this game. R/Chip.

Best when engine off, you need to work the rods according to the way your boat reacts to the drift.....we had have had fish hit 10 feet from the boat on an eel fished under a bobber at 10' and I thing if the boat was running they wouldn't be as brazen......my .02...
