12/8/07 Chesapeake Bay Fishing Report
By Capt. Jim Brincefield d/b/a “Jil Carrie” Charter Fishing
Fishing from the wharf at Long Bay Pointe Bait & Tackle, Lynnhaven, VA Beach, VA
Fresh on the heels of yesterday's great success we headed on up The Bay to catch some more Beasts From The East! Once again, today's sea condition was perfect with slick calm (pronounced "cam") seas and light winds. In case you all didn't know, when you go to Captain's School, the first day they teach you to write 50 times on the blackboard:
"You shoulda been here yesterday"
We struggled big time this morning and all I could do was catch a 40" Beast and a 17" throwback. Hero to zero in 18 hours! But our party - Mr. Al Gaibrois of NOVA and special guest star angler Nate hung in there and perservered! Thanks to the party of 4 and our fill in 1st Mate - Capt. Larry Wales of VA Beach, VA (1st Mate TJ Reiber is on sabbatical fresh off a grueling knitting club meeting and a harrowing schedule last month) for hangin' in there and the Beasts finally bit! We spanked 20 corpulent Striped Bass ("Rockfish") and kept the biggest 14 (releasing 3 slots and 3 smaller fish). Man, I was happy to get that monkey off my back today!
Note to self: Always tell 'em yesterday stunk!
