I was wondering if a bracket could be mounted on my Smokercraft 14ft low transom so I could mount a long shaft outboard. I am having trouble locating a short shaft 25 h.
Thanks for any help or advice.

I am not sure of the bracket but I was curious if you have tried Almars in DE. about a short shaft 25 hp? They have hundreds of new and used motors and its hard to beat there prices.
Just a thought.:D

Almars is great to deal with! My boat motor and trailer came from them

Does the current 25" have the extension on it that can be taken out and then replace the shaft inside?
I have a 15 HP Sea King that is a 15" but I also have the longer shaft and 5" extension to make it a 20".
You can raise the transom but you will have to very careful about it.

Jack plate would work, one of these would be cheaper; Mini-Jacker for Clamp-on Outboards (http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_8782_200002007_200000000_200002000_200-2-7)
I think Cabelas and almost any marine place sells them too. I've never used one, but I would think you should be concerned about the extra leverage the motor would get on the transom possibly causing stress problems.
