I need some advise on what to buy. I plan on trolling stripers this year and would like to know what kind or rod and reels to get without going broke. I am looking to pull bunkerspoons and shad rigs. Also would like to know if I can use the same rods for chunking.
Thanks for the help

I am far from an expert but this is what I use...
4 - 7' Ugly stick tigers for trolling and chunking
6 - 7'6" Cabelas Depthmaster for trolling
2 - 8'6" Daiwa sealine for trolling
i use the tigers for heavier baits like umbrella rigs right behind the boat. I like the longer rods out the side to make the spread a few feet wider. if I hav to pick 1 rod out of what i have to do it all it would be the tigers.

You know, there are so many off the rack rods, and nice ones at that. That it is very hard to choose. Ande makes some nice ones, Tsunami, Penn, just to name a few.
The best thing you could do is to look around an get a feel for what you want.

I would get something in the 30# class range. Turbo guides with roller tips. Reels would be levelwinds. The levelwinds help when getting the spread out so you can get the same distance each time. This should be no problem with umbrella rigs
