I know this has been talked about before and Verizon has been the king for coverage on the water but I also know that in the world of technology, things change. I was fishing the other day and a friend with a Sprint phone seemed to be getting good coverage too. On my old sprint phone, I would lose the signal about 2 miles from my inlet. I am with Verizon now, no complaints on the coverage but they are the most expensive for voice AND data usage.
So would lik to hear from the "other" providers to see if anyone has improved their on the water useage. I would love to dump Verizon and get a cheaper plan.

Cingular / ATT works up and down the CBBT as well as out to the CLT.

Mike - When I was with Sprint, I was signal-less by the first island. Now with Cingular - the New ATT, I've got coverage most everywhere I go (except the Cigar or the Canyons).

I have cingular as a carrier. I fish from the mouth of the York river to the Eastern Shore and at the CBBT. Very rarely have I been without a signal.

Are those rollover minutes any good?

Are those rollover minutes any good?
If you wrap them up in aluminum foil with a little butter, salt, and lemon...:chef:
Actually, since I have a 1400 minute plan for two phones, I've rarely dipped into them. But I have on a few occasions gone into that free reserve.
it seems a lot of it depends on the actual phone u use - my old bulky indestructaphone worked fine at the clt. my new sleek phone will get spotty coverage at best out past the santore. cingular - att
