1) there has to be a couple people you trust enough to serve as moderators. People who could move misplaced posts or edit/delete inappropriate ones or lock ones that are destined for trouble when you are away. As evidenced by your action this week, people really appreciate some light moderation. There will be a balance to strike and I generally agree with your minimally invasive style of governance, but sometimes crap goes down and it's obvious intervention is needed but no one expects you to be able to monitor the forums 24/7.

2) There is a restriction to only let you run a search every 30 seconds. This is frustrating if your search turns up no results, and you want to add a word or otherwise slightly modify your search, but the server won't let you search again until 30 seconds have gone by. I don't understand the point of having a limit on how often searches can be performed.

3) I'm not positive about this, but it appears there is an expiration of when a post can be edited. Case in point I put up a kayaking repot on the main board a few weeks ago and had placeholders for pictures that were going to be emailed to me. By the time I got them, I could not put them into my original post. Again, I don't see the harm in allowing infinite editing time - if someone doesn't want something up that they posted, shouldn't they be allowed to edit it?

Thanks for all the work you do to maintain this site - I really appreciate it. Thanks as well for your consideration of the above suggestions.

Hi Josh

Thanks for the suggestions, my responses are in green.

If I could find some other people that were willing to do that job I would take the help. We do have some interns who help, but having a few other full time Moderators I agree would help. If you know of anyone let me know, always open.

This is done because of spam. Sometimes people send scripts into sites that just keep searching to try and bring the server down. I will take a look and see if we might be able to set it to 15 seconds.

The reason for having a time limit is unfortunately because of a jokers who at times like to play games on message boards. They will post something leave it up for a time and then when I or another moderator comes back they have gone back and changed it and deny they did anything. Setting a time limit on editing makes people accountable for what they say.

Your point about your report and adding pictures is a good one. The option there is to just reply to your post/thread and post the pictures. I realize that is not ideal, but because of the problems that leaving it wide open presents I am not sure yet how we can work around it.
