I went to Wachapreague with a friend on saturday. We were in the water around 11:00 and after having some ignition switch/choke issues finally actually got under way around 11:30. We began trolling the flats and were rewarded with our first fish, a 19 inch keeper. Things really looked promising. Well, the fishing remained steady but not so with keepers. We ended up catching around 35 flounder with 3 keepers. The last was the largest at 21 inches. It had quite a bulge in its belly and when we cut it open we found a 6 inch mantis shrimp. We stopped fishing around 5:00. What a great day on the water.

Yeah they like mantis shrimp down there. If you caught them on the light bottom they were spitting up shrimp if you caught them on the mud they were spitting up worms. Those fish eat good down there and taste even better.

HEY FLATSCAT...It's time for us to make that trip again...let's go SOON!!! I had forgot how much fun it is to clean up the boat after flounder fishing down there and see all the different kinds of bait those fish had been eating...on our last trip those flat ones spit up worms, shrimp, minnows and one fish puked up something that looked like a 6 0r 7 inch HERRING... the stomach juices had started to work on it pretty good it could have been a small bunker...You are right they do taste better...Let's go!!!!
