A few of us are fishing next week in OC on a pontoon and was curious what fish might be around then? I don't think the boat could make it in the ocean so we'll be in the back bays. Will there actually be any fish (and what) or will we be on a booze cruise?

Wise choice, stay out of the ocean on a pontoon boat. There will be flounder at the Thoroughfare & Rt. 90 bridge.

If your just doing a booze cruise, try fishing from the dock

Where is the Thoroughfare? We usually fish behind the airport but I didn't know if they would be around this early in the season.

Bmail me total costs for entry fee and fuel. I'll see if I can swing it. My main problem is lodging.

The Thoroughfare is on the west side of the bay, north of Hoopers, right in front of those big arse houses, between dog & b!tch islands, right b4 the channel bends to the west (as you're travelling north). I'm at work, & don't have a nautical map handy.

The Thoroughfare, around the Rt 90 bridge and behind Assateague you will find flounder if the water is clear and the tide is moving. The sea wall at 2nd-4th street should still be worth togging on a slack tide. Inside the inlet just south of the Rt 50 bridge near the channel you can get nice blues, stripers and skates. Sometimes flounder on the west side during high tide.

Instead of a booze cruise, may I suggest taking the bus down to MR Ducks and getting in on the fishing contest at the bar. :beergood: :D
