Got a little too much cabin fever. So I decided to trailer down to Hatteras
and fish Saturday. I also decided not to listen to the weatherman either.
My wife and I woke up Saturday morning on the winds were blowing something fierce.
Decided to drive down to the beach, and magically the ocean looked calm.
Put the boat in and made it through the inlet by about 11am. Once we made it through
the seas were glass calm, I managed to run out at about 40mph for the first 10 miles, the way home was a different story.
I found 74 degree water in about 400 ft of water approximately 25miles out.
Saw a bunch of charters trolling around, but by the time we made it out there
they were heading in, with there catch, which sounded like they were pulling in some dolphin. My wife thought chumming would help while we were trolling, so she tried that out
a couple of times. I am a lucky SOB, she stays married to me. We were unsuccessful but figured I put out a report anyway. I wasn't able to find any weedlines or stuff floating around, which leads to my first question,
When targeting dolphin what do you do when you can't find anything floating around to troll around?
Also When going in the OBX area what temperature is good for them?
Thanks Much
