went out of HI this morning. Real nasty out there.
managed to pick up one dolphin on a ballyhoo w/ yellow/green/pink skirt. Found 77deg water east of diamond shoals. Had a really nice knockdown before seas picked up. Only got to troll for about two hours. Made it back to the ramp and the skies turned blue and the winds died down. Oh well won't be the first time the weather
did the opposite of what it was supposed to.
will be out again tomorrow monitoring 68.

We went out of HI Friday with two of my brothers, and a friend with a light SW wind.
Started at the 165 degree rockpile. Hooked up with a nice gaffer Dolphin around 8:30, and then wind switched to the NE 15 mph around 10:30 am.
Within 30 mins the seas built up, with real steep waves.
Decided to troll in and picked up another Gaffer, and some Spanish Mackeral.
I won't go out of HI again when they are calling for NE winds, in a 24 ft boat.

We fished Friday as well and you're right the winds and seas really got STEEP, especially along the shoals. No more NE winds out of there for me.

We managed 3 mahi before calling it quits, I was glad to get back to shore. At least we were on a 31' Jupiter (Charley's, Lucky Duck), I couln't even imagine the ride in on anything less.

2 of the fish came off a small No Alibi - yellow/green feather fought on a little Calcutta 400 with 30 lb power pro. It Was A BLAST!!!

The forecast was let's say a bit off!!!

I can't wait until I can get another chance to fish and the seas are FLAT!!!

I was in a 21ft cc. Time to get a bigger boat. Glad to hear you all made it back without any problems also.

Went with surferbill and the bros, too bad it was so rough! I think we could have put a serious dent in the dolphin population had we had more time. Hope you guys have fun down there.

Yeah, i was also with Charlie, Lucian, and Kevin "curtains are for pussies" williams. Like Lucian said, we were glad to be back to the dock after the seas picked up. Cant imagine what it must have been like in a 21 cc. Thnaks for the invite guys, we will get a crack at em again with better weather. Sweet rig of Charlies.

We had an All Star Crew, all we needed was All Star Weather!!!

Next time I think you should give the Calcutta a try, it was a BLAST!!! And we'll get Charley that Big Ole Blue Suit!!!!

I'm recovered and as soon as I get past all my obligations, I'll be Ready To Roll!!!

Yeah that was me. It was nice talking to you guys. I love that place.
We went out again on Sunday and did much better. On the way out
to troll we stopped at a wreck , and I picked up a nice amberjack on my first cast with a gold stingsilver. The school went away after the first fish. We trolled after that for a couple of hours and brought in three dolphin and lost one. Little choppy but the fish still wanted to eat.

Congrats on getting out & getting in on the action. Sorry Fri's weather wasn't a bit better for ya. That Stream really gets bumpy on the North winds. We fished it some Fri also & was hoping for the afternoon to layout & as you mentioned it did.
