Headed out of Ocean City both Saturday and Sunday. The seas where flat as can be and covered in fog. After arriving at a couple of wrecks that I wanted to freedive, we found them covered up with fisherman. We diverted to some smaller structures nearby, but with 5 divers in the water, it proved to be crowded. We headed off to the shoals. We found huge amount of Tautog and everybody got thier share of the fish. The hard work was finding quality fish. They where around, but the majority of the tautog where in the 16-18" range. You had to hunt to find a better grade fish. Visability was alright, but a bit murcky, particularly at the bottom. It varied from 5-10 feet through out the day and location. Seemed like clouds of scum would role through in waves.
Sunday headed south out of the inlet. Arrived with four divers onboard and found flat seas and minimal current. The tog where very thick. There was a decent # of large fish around and we had no problem shooting a limit of nice grade fish. The largest was shot by scott and weighed in at 12lbs. Tassos found the sheeps head. He seems to have them figured out. He shot several very nice ones for the table. There where also ample amounts of spades in the area. There where sea bass about too, but they where very wary... not the usual MO for seabass. Schools of blues made appearances throughout the day. Most where small schools of snapper blues, but I did see two nice schools of big boys. They wouldn't let me get a shot off, staying right on the edge of visability and "ghosting" me. Headed in to clean fish and relax. Two very good days of fishing with a fun group of guys.
