My grandparents have a place on pawleys island that has beach and kayak access. I usually just fish the surf and catch whiting, but I'd like to catch a little more this time.
I will be down there the last week of august and would love to hook into some reds, trout, flounder, blues, spanish, just a little bit of everything. i've heard the north inlet holds a lot of fish but have never personally fished it. If anyone could give me some advice on what's hot down there and how to catch it that would be great. thanks for the help!

I just got back from Litchfield, the rocks on the north side of Pawley's have just about everything,
Sheepshead, use fidler crab at slack tide, you can find anywhere in the marsh, they scamper around like roaches, with a small split shot, kinda like trout fishing with power bait.
Flounder and Trout, I caught on finger mullet that I caught with a cast net.
Shark fishing towards evening with small fish steaks is fun as well.
I heard of guys catching Mackeral off the beach from their boat. I only had a small rowboat with an outbard, cruising the inlet was a bit tricky at low tide.

Spent the 3rd week in July at Pawleys last year and "JALOPY" is correct the North point has just about everything. For Flounder we used single hook bottom rig and only about a 1/4 to 1/2 oz sinker so it would move along the bottom. We had no luck at all with artificial (Gulp) bait or cut shrimp only mud minnows worked for the flounder. We picked up a couple of Red Drum with the same. For Sheepshead, again "JALOPY" is right. We stood on the rocks using the same bottom rig as for flounder baited with a Fiddler crab. We would drop the line straight down in front of the rock and when it hit bottom we would reel it up, only 2 or 3 turns and wait. As my son said it was like cane pole fishing with a rod and reel. We used #4 and #6 hooks. All total we got about a dozen Flounder a couple red drum and about 6 Sheepshead. I hope this helps. We are leaving for Pawleys for a week again this Sunday and I will update you when we return if you would like...
