I've been using this knot in place of an improved clinch knot of late and find it very strong and easy to tie even on heavy leader or stiffer fluro leader.
First choice for me is always a palomar knot but it cannot be used in every situation.

I spent some time today tying some 7/0 hooks to 50 lb test leader line using a modified clinch on the hook and the surgon's knot on the loop. I like a palamar knot for lighter test mono, but find it diffiecult to pull it tight with heavier line. I tried other combinations but none felt comfortable, probably due to my watching football as I tried tying new knots.
I've started using snack bags to hold 2 or 3 hook/leader rigs. It's cheap and easy.

Got ya....I use a Palomar up to 80 pound test...just need to wet it down and draw the ends equally and it will cinch down. It is just such a strong knot I find myself using it as much as possible.
Yup, sandwich bags on bigger ziplock bags work well for storing long and short leader rigs.

Glen, This is my usual other than " Palomar " knot I have been using for a few years, and as long as your fingers work and you have some saliva left it has held up well. It hasnt broken or come undone on some pretty large fish so far !!!!!!!!!! < crossed fingers >
Hard to use older fingers might have a problem without assistance. Hahahahaha ( Thats why I fish with Lee or Claude so much ) !
