Sad, that with all the commercial press for rockfish poaching, there are recreational fishermen poaching. I guess they always do it's just we're becoming more sensitized to it now.
Here's the scoop: A week ago I took my son (2.5y/o) down to Buckingham Wharf on the Chester River. We found a large, ~40" Rock carcass. It was filleted and left on the shore. I went back today to see if I could duck out of the wind to fish a bit for perch and I found 5 rockfish carcasses, all 15-18". Filleted as well. They had been there for a little while as they were dried up. I thought I'd do my part and notify DNR of what I found. They said they would try and increase patrols in the area. It just left me shaking my head. I guess all recreation fishermen don't respect the rules, laws and the fishery.
