Sad, that with all the commercial press for rockfish poaching, there are recreational fishermen poaching. I guess they always do it's just we're becoming more sensitized to it now.
Here's the scoop: A week ago I took my son (2.5y/o) down to Buckingham Wharf on the Chester River. We found a large, ~40" Rock carcass. It was filleted and left on the shore. I went back today to see if I could duck out of the wind to fish a bit for perch and I found 5 rockfish carcasses, all 15-18". Filleted as well. They had been there for a little while as they were dried up. I thought I'd do my part and notify DNR of what I found. They said they would try and increase patrols in the area. It just left me shaking my head. I guess all recreation fishermen don't respect the rules, laws and the fishery.

The press named the violators because the feds and dnr caught them red handed. Come up with legal documentation and names , then you can accuse who ever you want to. Not saying you would not tell the truth, but anyone could have done what you are saying. Whoever did do it,kept the meat, easier to hide.

Not sure why this got moved when other lesser topics remain. I did not intend to get into a discussion rather reveal what I found.

Kidz-What you wrote is what I am talking about.
Whoever did do it,kept the meat, easier to hide. Sad. I am not accusing anyone, I am merely pointing out the fact that it is going on. I found filleted under sized rock fish on the shore on more than one occasion. What would you do? Complain that fishing is bad or bring it to the attention of the authorities so something can be done about it?
