Thanks to Jack for kicking the other two into coming down after three years of invites.
AP are very good eating, similar to grouper in texture and taste.
Glad you boys were able to check a couple more species off the list.

I hate you guys:D fishing in t-shirts while I was in the mustang suit, but seeing the cobia pics warmed me up some. great catch, I can tell by the smiles you had a terrible time down south. looks like diehard has it dialed in.

Bill's "3D" jack was actually the second fish he hooked on that drop. He had a smaller one on and it pulled. The big one hooked up about one second after the smaller one pulled. What you pray to not happen is to pull off a good one after a long fight because another fresh one will be on it that quick. Had it happen many times.
The best time to break the century mark is now till the end of April. The most I have caught in one day is three over 100. Problem is you may have to go through 25 40-80 lbers to get "the one".

WHAT AN AMAZING FISHERY!!!!! Steve THANK YOU BRO! Even though I'm still sore from the cranking; I'm still smiling thinking about the GREAT trip. I don't what hurts worse my arms from cranking or my stomach from laughing! If any of you want a trip you will not forget hook up with DI HRD. That was my first trip I concentrated on the JIG and learned the amazing variety of species you will catch.
Thanks again Steve I will be back!! I have some more pic.s I'll post. Gus' MONSTER SHARK came out real nice.
I am taking the WRASSE to Mountain Breeze to add to our mount collection!!

The only rod I used all day was my torium 20 and trevala rod.
The other guys used a variety of jigs, eastern tackle and jerk that jig. The only 2 i used were a pink/blue shimano flatside and a blue mackeral shimano flatside... both 8oz.

All we know is it was BIG and Brown and we should have cut the line after the first 30 minute fight; but we did get smarter after the 2nd 20 minute fight and David was all but DEAD!:D:D:D

I heard the story!!! For us is is good that you all snapped the shot of the fish first, but i think david would of rather clipped the line HEHE. He is a big boy he can handle that fish with those python arms!!!!

You want to see it? It's iced down in my cooler waiting to give David a real challenge to duplicate! (Mountain Breeze) It is a Spanish Hogfish.

The thing that made the shark fight epic was the rod David was using. It was a TVS 66HM 50-100, better suited for sea bass. Not to be dropped where the monsters live.

My friend Pete coined the "51" when we started getting bombarded with questions a couple years ago. As far as we know it doesn't exist... Seriously though, more than having "that" number the most important thing to have is a bottom machine that will hit wile running. The 3D jack, red grouper, pinkies, and "Psychedelic Tiger Tog" all came off spots we found running that day.
Rob, here is a standard hog snapper (hogfish, not to be confused with pigfish)
