First off.....credit goes to Tat Tuna for the idea. I added a neat feature and decided to document the making process for the folks on TF. I have recently been labeled the "grinch of TF" so I figured it was time I did contribute. I have been lying low recently. Here goes.
I built 4 for just under $20. All supplies were purchased at Home Depot (on my lunch break)
Items needed for 1 unit
-QTY 1 - 1 inch PVC T
-QTY 2 - 1 inch PVC caps
-QTY 2 - 1 inch pipe section (2-3/4 inch long)
-QTY 1 - Cargo Boss 40 inch locking bungee cord
-QTY 2 - 1/4 inch stainless washers
Steps
-Cut long 1 inch PVC pipe into 2 sections about 2 3/4 inches long
-Drill 5/16 hole in the end of the center of each cap. (I filed down the rough spots)
-Cut latch end of bungee off with about 12 inch tag
-Heat both ends of latch and tag ends with lighter to keep from fraying immediately
-Slide cut end through the cap, then feed on washer, tied over hand knot
-I heated the knot so the bungee would adhere to itself and keep the know from slipping
- Repeat for the other end
- Assemble pieces as show below with the PVC glue (had this so it wasn't a cost to me)
Granted they aren't perfect and I would never use them on a serious fish with heavy tackle but I think for bottom fishing they are pretty cool.
