View Full Version : Sat tracking cheap
Does anyone have an opinion about SPOT Sat GPS tracking system? At around $175 a year it sounds to good to be true.

I received one for christmas, I used it deer hunting and striper fishing and found it to be acurate as to location when I hit OK button. Test of HELP worked as planned ( in back yard)....could only believe that 911 feature would also work as advertized.....I found that when hitting OK on the run (ie in truck doing 60 mph) location was off a coupla miles due to delay in signal being sent....but overall I'm happy with it
I bowhunt by myself a lot in an area where cell phone doesn't work very good. I got it so that if I got in trouble I could notify wife to begin a cell phone tree with hunting club members, who could come to help.....If truly in trouble I'd hit 911 and rescue should be able to come to lat/long area.

I have been considering one of these as well and trying to find some first hand reviews. Could be a good low cost protection if it does what it states it does.

I used it on my bay tour last year, it awesome! I have the tracking option, it tracked me every 10 min and my friends and family were able to watch my progress on SPOT google earth web link. I use it when i fish to look at where i went on the site when i get home. Its really cool and totally worth it just for that, not to mention the safety features

What was your annual cost? Was it as advertised?
