Tampa Bay Area in January

I am bringing my WorldCat 270TE down Tampa at the end of December to do some fishing and go to the Outback Bowl. I haven't seen my Gators play live in years.

I will be docking at John's Pass. Anyone got some advice on what my game plan should be? What is biting best at that time of year? I am not a big fan of driving 80 miles to bob for grouper, but I will do it if there is nothing else biting.

Any advice is appreciated.
