Have any of you bought second wiring setups to move your FF from one boat to the other? I email humminbird asking for a place to buy a complete second setup. They said you cannot get that but they gave me list of items to order and prices.

Wiring, mounts, etc for second boat - $104
Original Humminbird Pirahna Max 20 complete - $99

I emailed them back asking if they realized what they quoted me was more than I paid for the entire setup to begin with. Haven't heard anything.

Do you guys just but a new setup? I was thinking I wanted a little better setup with gps possibly and now I am convinced I can do it based on those numbers.

if you buy 2of the same models you can wire both yaks and have a backup unit in case one fails/breaks.

My other kayak, Prowler 15 is not rigged with FF yet because I can not find the good place for the FF. I am putting a new unit on it because the only time I use the Prowler is when I have a guest. Like a Pier_man said, I would buy the same unit so that I can have a back up. My old Eagle was fried when I practice re-entry one day. I had it "ON" not "OFF" that day. I guess the most of FF are splash proof not submersible, I learned...

*Usually* you can get a transducer & cable assembly for $50-75 at Bass Pro - check Ebay, probably cheaper.

I keep my fishfinder on a RAM ball mount set-up.

Then any other boat I want to move it to just gets another transducer from someplace like boatersland.com and a new Ram-ball from BPS/Cabelas/Ram. Total cost for a "new" boat ~70$.

I installed a Lowrance X-96 fishfinder on an Ocean Kayak Drifter a year and a half ago. This winter I bought a Native Manta 14. I did not want to buy a second fishfinder but wanted to be able to move the screen unit back and forth. I bought a new transducer for about $50 and a second U-shaped mounting bracket for about $20, both from BOE Marine. They were very helpful and had a good price on the parts.
