View Full Version : Fishing Report Deep Drop on the JIG!!

Sorry for the late report but I just got pics today. I had a group of friends that wanted to deep drop on Thursday 3/5 but couldn't get enough interest to charter a big boat. Talked to my buddy David at VB Contender and he said "NO PROBLEM". 6 of us rented the 27T Contender, which is a 30' boat, and left Marina Shores at 0515. It was a great ride out at 35kts!! We got lines in along the North Wall of the Canyon around 0815, dropped the jigs and it was dog shark city! Made a quick adjustment and found the promised land!! Everyone hooks up on nice wreckfish!! Had to make one more drift through there to let the Captain get his...Tried a couple spots on the South Wall for goldens but the sharks were thick!! Ran North and hit the sea bass pretty good...I think we landed 50 or so in a couple hours...all nice fish up to 3.5lbs and a dozen or so blueline tiles in the mix. About 0115 we decided to wrap it up as it was getting a little breezy. Pointed the Contender west toward the barn and she did a great job punching through the SSW slop on the way home!! Thanks to David at VB Contender for hooking us up with a great ride!!
