$25-for biggest Blackfin on the scale.
$25-for Dolphin/Wahoo
$25-for biggest bottom fish, grouper included, sharks do not apply.

Must sign your boat name on here by Saturday at mid-night and payouts will be held at Crab Creek Pizza Monday night at 7pm over cold beer and delicious pizza. Any boat, any number of people on board. No lines in/lines out time. Just gotta make it to CCP by 7 Monday afternoon.

Can you fish out of Virginia? You need to clarify bottom fish better. Rays, Aj's, and Cobia all feed on the bottom.

This is a Hatteras/ OI tourney. Im not sure if you will catch many rays out there but their not on the list. AJ's are not on the list nor are Almaco's or Lesser Jacks nor False Albacore. FYI tuna also feed on the bottom. Cobia can be added to the bottom fish.

Bottom fish:

Sea Bass
Tilefish (all species)
Grouper (all legal species)
Triggers (all species)
Cobia
Snappers (all species)
Hake
Pollock
etc.

If there are any others species that are caught that may question the "bottom fish" category we can have a vote.

...trust me..you won't hear of one caught out of hatteras until middle or end of may. Possibly a stray one caught by an offshore boat, but cobia won't show up inshore with any consistancy until the water warms to around mid 60's. Morehead has alot different currents and temps than we do. If you plan to go cobia fishin in march out of here......good luck!

...it HAS been awhile. I am great. All my surgeries are DONE!!!!!!!!!! Lovin the outer banks...surfin, fishin, and tryin not to go crazy. March is the month i got my little wooden boat out of the water so i am drivin my fiancee crazy. When i don't fish i get moody. I am constantly thinkin bout spring and gearin up...buying alot of tackle i don't need nor will i ever use...this is the addiction we all share. :clapping2:

We don't have much experience down there, but would be up for a friendly wager next weekend if the weather is right. Good luck with your talk at BPS.

I'm sure my crew would like to get in on some wagers but we're not going down until next weekend with about 4 other boats if the weather allows. Let's make it happen!

And I had the first cobe the year before at Teaches around 40lbs. first week of April. Not quite NC paper but a brown clown none the less. We actually got 2 that day. They were both on the 230 rocks. Quite a suprise...

Got ours on the Dixie Arrow...depth of 80' fishing for triggers...yes it was a surprise.

Actually got mine on the 230 rock pile fishing for whatever. First fish was the smaller on squid.

Second fish has a story.....
10 minutes after the first fish hit the deck. Hooked an AJ and got it off the bottom. Had a sandbar eat it and when it finally spit it out I cranked it to the top. 5 sharks followed it to the top. I figured I'll fix em and hacked a chunk off the AJ head and put it on a big hook and clipped it right to a snap swivel on a 50 wide. Talk about a pretty cobia bait...150lb snap swivel to a 18/0 J hook and a 2lb. chunk of AJ. Well I finished my rig and looked in the water and there is a 40lb cobia swimming around the boat. I throw the bait like a baseball and he eats it. VERY short fight on a 50 wide and tried to kill me when it got in the boat.
