So, whole family was gone, did my chores and got bored. Ran out Saturday afternoon to Cape henry just for fun. I was the ONLY trailer in Crab Creek and the ONLY boat out at Cape Henry.
Marked an amazing amount of bait balls inside the bay when approaching Henry and the gannets were there also but the bait balls were pretty deep in the 50' water. Water temp. was around 46.
Sorry to say - nuttin honey - not even a bump. Guess there weren't any stripers under all that bait. Trolled stretches for 2-3 hours and then ran up to first island to try some C&R. Nuttin there either. Came back in around 6:30 before it got too dark.
Actually even though it light rained all afternoon, it wasn't all that bad out there. A swell but its been worse this winter and there were more boats slugging it out. Guess everyone else has given up on them....still better than sitting in front of the tube. At least I didn't have to wash the boat down - it got a good washing on the ride home.
