When we were getting ready for the Virginia Beach Anglers Club (VBAC) banquet this Sat, we had no agenda or idea of how the evening would go and we were just looking forward to a nice night out with the family. We found a table near the front and invited Ed and George and their wives and another couple to sit with us. We shared a few drinks and a lot of laughs and talked about the deep drop coming up this Sat. We shared some dreams and some fish stories. Then the VBAC began to announce some of the winners from 2008 for the VBAC club and words can not express what happened next. (See below) and the fun did not stop here. Our table had bought plenty of tickets for the raffle and the raffle numbers started being called. Now our table was still laughing, throwing a few back, and carrying on so this was not by any means an easy task at times to "keep up" with the numbers & everything else going on around.. but I would have to say we somehow managed quite nicely..For a while there it seemed like a lot of numbers were being won by someone from our table or next to our table..I won a lot of offshore stuff which I just loved George and his wife are "set" for rockfish season next year as they won a lot of rigs and lures, I distinctly remember Ed holding up nicely wrapped zip pouch that included some necessary things when you travel like travel tissues. This became quite hilarious after a while. I beleive he won some other things but that is what I remember the most because he just made the whole situation so fun..we also managed two rods and reels, a $50.oo gift card to you guessed it ...good old Walmart , 2 of tuna rigs a $25 gift card to a tackle website, 3 flounder rigs, two brain teaser games for the girls and the list goes on....I almost forgot to mention.. The food!! The food was fantastic... Jerry and the others really out did themselves this year. I wanted to extend a special thank you the the VBAC for such a great evening and I am looking forward to next year... After all this excitement, I decided to post it because I want to show you how much fun these clubs can be..... If you are not a member of an anglers club......You should Join one.. Not only do you learn a lot, you make great friends, share some fantastic fish stories and you have the opportunity to hear some pretty great speakers every month at the meetings WHAT A BLAST!!!!!

Dennis,
Definitely a blast. It is always a good indication of a night well spent when you wake up the next day still chuckling over the things that happened the night before..Good stuff!!
Billy,
Thanks;-)
Joe. I hope so too. The new boat is currently being pampered and fluffed as I call it along with some engine maintenance of course.:fishing2:
Jack,
Thank you. I hope great things come from "Her" as well.:yinyang:
Al B,
Nice! I just Love the "hardware" analogy... Especially since we run a handyman business..
Robert,
You definitely make an excellent point about it keeping a family together it also gives us something fun to talk about and eat for dinner as well.:D
Mike,
I'll keep you posted. Yes! I Love that Goal.
(Finally757) Brandon,
Banded Rudderfish. Small but fun fish to catch. They have tropical bright blue and yellow on their bodies and when they are small or "juvenile" they possess stripes..hence the name "banded".. They are also in the "jack" family. :cowboy:
Kevin,
Sounds great to me. Thank you.
