Joey (golfinjoe24) and I hit Allens Fresh today from 8:30 to 2, or thereabouts, and fished pretty much the entire falling tide. It was still foggy when we started, the water temp was about 44*, and the salinity downstream of the bridge was near 0. We fished below the bridge for a little over an hour without any luck. We fished all the way upstream to the big bunch of fallen trees and only caught 1 white perch that was about 8.5" long. It hit a 2" chartreuse gulp grub on a 1/8oz roadrunner head. I thought I had hooked another stick and was really surprised when it turned out to be a fish. The water temp up there was closer to 45* up there. Worked our way back down and all the way out to the cedars without any more luck. By the time we got to the cedars, the water temp was closer to 50*.
I tried white grubs, a silver buddy, a small firetiger Rapala, and a couple different spinners to no avail. Not sure what Joey tried. Most of the other folks we spoke with weren't having any luck, either, including guys using bait. To top it off, the few pics I took came out blurry. My waterproof camera hates taking pictures with water in the field of view... :52: Saw tons of Canada geese and sea gulls, a blue heron, and a beaver that dove before I had my camera ready. It was a pretty nice day overall, and I got home in time to futz around in my yard for a couple hours.
